A number of speculations had talked about a standalone monitor by Apple. Latest reports have said that the new consumer-oriented standalone monitor by the tech giant is all set to be launched in 2022 and is expected to have a price tag of $2500. The hint came from Mark Gurman from Bloomberg as he wrote in his first newsletter of 2022. Gurman said that the new standalone monitor is expected to be half of the price of the Pro Display XDR that could hopefully come out in 2022.

Reports have mentioned that the Cupertino based giant is developing a low-cost external monitor that could be sold with a high-end Pro Display Pro XDR which has a price tag of $4,999. AS per Gurman’s words, he seems to be sure that the new display could have the price tag of $2,500 but he is less confident that it could be released in 2022. The reports about the standalone display by Apple was reported by Gurman in January 2021 and then it was suggested that it would be a successor to Apple’s earlier Thunderbolt Display that was launched in 2011 for $999 but it was discontinued in 2016.

Gurman in the December edition of his newsletter hinted that Apple is getting ready with its new display while predicting that it would be a hit device for people who are looking forward for a larger screen for their new MacBook Pro without having the need of spending heavy like they did on the Pro Display XDR. Meanwhile, some of the earlier reports related to the standalone displays mentioned by a Twitter based leaker @dylandkt last month had claimed that LG was developing three new standalone displays that could end up being for Apple.

One of them was the current 24 inch iMac, another is based on the upcoming 27 inch iMac and a 32 inch model that could be a new Pro Display XDR that has an Apple silicon chip.
