With Instagram and Twitter continuing to fallout with each other, the social networking site released its very own version of a photo application on December 10, 2012. Twitter said that its app will be available for Android phones as well as the iPhone, but the Apple App Store has not yet displayed the photo filtering app.
Twitter posted the news on its blog and said that users will now be able to edit their pictures and post them to the site via a native photo-app. It was expected that Twitter would release its own photo-sharing app following trouble with Instagram. Instagram had stopped allowing users to post photographs from their site to Twitter by disabling Twitter cards.
Kevin Systrom, who is the CEO of Instagram said that they made to move to remove inter-connectivity between the two sites as they wanted their customers to focus on using their web services. However there could be a twist in the tale, as Instagram was recently acquired by another social networking site Facebook and this could be a ploy by the site to take users away from the competition.
Twitter released a link to download their version of a photo filtering application from Google Play, as well as the App Store, however link for iPhone’s was not immediately available.
