Smartphone manufacturing giant BlackBerry unveiled its new BlackBerry Z30 on September 18, 2013, a brand new model which features a 5-inch display, a bigger battery, stereo speakers, as well as the latest version of the BlackBerry 10 operating system.
The new Z30 model was earlier known as the BlackBerry A10 while still in development and has been introduced while BlackBerry is still actively exploring strategic alternatives. The company’s latest model comes as BlackBerry is still looking for a buyer. The current speculations surrounding the company are ranging from joint partnerships and ventures to the possibility of BlackBerry being broken up in pieces which would simplify the buying process.
Concerns have mounted on the company’s viability after a bad first quarter of 2013, which saw poor sales of BlackBerry 10 devices. It also seems like BlackBerry is catching up with the trend of large screens, which was started by Samsung and its Galaxy Note franchise. The Z30 has a 5-inch Super AMOLED display, along with the top-of-the-line components which include the 1.7GHz processor and quad-core graphics.
The new phone also has a larger 2,880 mAh battery which gets 25 hours of mixed use, as well as other features like stereo speakers and the Paratek Antenna technology.
