WhatsApp might add feature that would self-destruct photos

Instant messaging site WhatsApp is surely making efforts to woo and win back its users. The service is seems to be working on a new feature that will self-destruct the pictures. The feature is not new and is already found on Snapchat. The Facebook-owned company has in the recent past faced a lot of backlash from the users due to the privacy bout but it is still not clear as to how many users the company has actually lost.

WhatsApp has been working hard to add some new features to the app to make it more interesting and reliable. Some of the recent reports have claimed that it is working on a photo feature that would self-destruct from the WhatsApp chats. For now the pictures that have been received on the app through chat gets stored to the device library directly. This frustrates a number of users but the upcoming feature would be a relief for those who do not want their libraries to be filled with unnecessary pictures which are of no use.

However, the feature sounds familiar as it already exists for the Snapchat users and has been in place for many years now. Snapchat notifies the users in case they take a screen shot, but if a screenshot is taken of a self-destructing photo on WhatsApp it will not notify the original sender. So here it makes it a pointless feature where there is a loop. So if you do want to save it, all you have to do is to screen shot or record any image that has been received.

For now the feature is being tested on the beta version and it is not known as to when the feature would be introduced on the actual build. WhatsApp recently lost a number of user base due to its new policy. But the company left no stone unturned to clarify that it would never peep in to the private data of the users.
